A lot of people underestimate what cloudflare does and while it was a massive incident in scale minuscule compared to others recent ones other large companies have had


Cloudflare is a massive cdn, so it’s point is to front end traffic not just doing routing.
The problem is to get anything close to cloudflare you’d need massive scale and networking ability.
Like self hosting containers or vms. There’s a point you have to go to the cloud


There’s not a way to self host what cloudflare does though


Launch of ACA markets? But that seemed more like the company paid to make it under sized it or just did shit code.
Which goes back to somethings shouldn’t be done for profit
Oh so they are going to use the Puppet excuse to move away from open source?
we must move to have our code internal only for now. Totally just for security reasons nothing to do with us also changing licensing to make it harder for those building things for us
no don’t bring up the security incident we’re referring to that shows us as the issue not having code visible! (ie they cheaped out on people/set up and vendor had keys visible)
