This looks seriously amazing, I’m totally gonna host this for myself tonight. And as someone else said, try to move off of GitHub if possible!

yt-dlp is great for cli, and if you want a web gui, you can run metube in docker

It does have screen sharing now! The Linux client currently can’t share system audio, but I think they’re working on that

58, my cpu is usually around 10-20% usage. I really don’t have any trouble managing/maintaining these. Things break almost weekly but I understand how to fix them every time, it only takes a few minutes

And there they are!

As others have already said, piefed is much lighter than lemmy, and is what I’m running as well, my instance isn’t necessarily single-user, (anyone’s free to join), but there’s only one other user on my instance

+1 to that. I started hosting it recently and haven’t even had to do anything about maintenance

I can’t remember the exact technical details of it, but that’s how links are generated for non-Latin languages. If you go to the actual site it will display as the intended url

Seconding this! I have my own matrix server, it can be a bit of a pain to set up, but it works better than 99% of any other alternatives (trust me, I’ve tried almost every one of them)

This probably isn’t the place to discuss it too much, but it’s a whole bunch of political nonsense they partake in

Do note that a lot of people/instances have lemmy.ml blocked, so you may get less responses if you post there.

Update to my i7-2600k, it’s taking 6 seconds per image

i7-2600k here…

Thanks! I had gotten it working by setting element_call in the .well-known to call.element.io, but I followed this and it works great! Unfortunately, the legacy call is oddly inconsistent, some people can use it, but some can’t.

I just updated the post with my compose.yaml file in case that’s helpful

I’ve tried using the docker container at ghcr.io/element-hq/synapse and https://hub.docker.com/r/matrixdotorg/synapse, whenever someone tries to call another, it just stays on “connecting” forever

Ami having a stroke? Are you having a stroke? What the hell is going on?

Coincidentally I set up Immich yesterday without even knowing this happened!
I have metube configured to download into a directory that jellyfin watches as a library, organized in folders by the channel name and then prefixed with the publish date. It works so insanely well and it makes it so easy to watch videos with friends.
