Look into a piece of software called tlp. If your hardware is supported, you can use it to limit the charge of your battery to 80%, which seems to help with that issue.

Yeah this is as cool as it in frustrating to know these things are being tossed into the trash in huge quantities all day long.

Host PieFed instead. I’ve hosted Lemmy and PieFed and Lemmy was a huge pain to set up, and was very resource-heavy. PieFed was a breeze to set up, and the dev team beats Lemmy’s Dev team by a country-mile.

You will be surprised at how much you can do with very little and very old hardware.
